Last 3 Months CAT Preparation Strategy

Many aspirants used to wonder why their grades in mock exams didn't rise,  even after they had finished the course.  After two weeks or two months, you see, you will only remember half of what you read. This means that unless the information is repeatedly reinforced throughout time, you won't remember what you learn from the material. You will begin to appreciate it once you fully understand how much time you are killing by neglecting to review your notes since you forget so much of what you read. Therefore, you must revisit the things you have written down each week.
Another frequently asked question is, "I cannot answer many questions during mock exams, but after the mock, I can figure them out". Why does this take place? This is because of the pressure you experience when you are in a scenario.  Because for most of you, taking a mock test with a timer and the objective of producing the best result is a new experience. Without a timer, solving the questions after Mock is comfortable because you are familiar with the surroundings. Have you thought, why does this matter?  Making the mock setting familiar to you, or taking plenty of mocks and answering any questions, even at home, as quickly and accurately as you can, will help you enhance your mock performance.

How do you practice to deliver the best results at home?

  • Always Make Notes
Take note of everything that you learn. And constantly make weekly revisions.

  • Attempt Section or Topic-Based Tests
Take a topic-specific test after finishing the syllabus for a particular topic. The test must be taken seriously. It serves as a convenient transition point if you want to switch from the Homely environment to the Mock environment because a sectional test is a conversion environment between the two.

  • Attempt Each Question
Any question you come across in your study materials, the AIExpertsEdge test series, or other sources, attempt to first see the problems and solve them. Don't immediately check the provided solution.
Try again for at least five to twenty minutes. If you don't understand the question properly, don't spend more than five minutes. Also, if you are having trouble coming up with answers, don't waste more than 20 minutes. You need to see the solution only after those 20 minutes. After that, you can look at other people's responses to obtain a more focused perspective of how to approach the question. Also, after solving or seeing the solutions, you have to pick the difficulty level of the question and always mark these levels in front of each question you notice.

  • Focus on Accuracy
When answering a question, make every effort to be accurate. Focus on it if you find yourself getting the answers wrong on more than 10% of the questions, and attempt to convince yourself before the test that you won't make any mistakes today. After a few tests, you will start to see the outcomes if you set the goal of being perfect.

  • Be Concentrated
Create a scenario where you are solving questions that should resemble the scenario you would encounter at the test centre. Avoid answering the phone, answering the door, getting up for water, and listening to music. Tell your parents and friends to refrain from calling you while you are in class. Set aside certain times for them.

  • Avoid Negativity
Simply avoid anyone who has bad things to say about you or anyone else. They constantly complain on social media because they are unhappy, miserable souls who don't want other people to succeed. A person with a goal ignores them completely.

Month Planner

There are only 3 more months, September, October and November, for the CAT exam. To complete the preparation for the exam, you must be consistent and methodical. To organise these tasks, you also need a schedule. It is tough to recall the stages for many topics and subjects without a schedule. The schedule is as follows. It can be used as guidance for creating one's own schedule for these three months.

Schedule for November
November being the last month of preparation, keep November only for three main things :
  • Attempting Mocks,
  • Revising the topics
  • Strengthening your stronger areas

Schedule for September and October
You have two months to focus on your areas of weakness. Therefore, list your areas of weakness. Start putting them into practice on September 1st. By September last week, you will be able to understand where you have to concentrate and where you have the upper hand. You can opt for some crash courses or join some test series. You can opt for the AIExpertsEdge CAT test series that gives you a CAT replica platform to practice and master the topics.

Till October, take at least two mock exams each week. Take three mock exams beginning in November. Make an accurate analysis of them with our smart test report. Do not forget that the most crucial aspect of taking a mock exam is analysis. No book is enough for quant preparation. Just solve as many as you can and, most importantly, solve all questions coming in your test series.
Many shortcuts, tips and tricks are given in the detailed solution of each test in the test series. You can use them to analyse how to approach a question and solve it. Shortcuts can occasionally save you a significant amount of time.

During the last part of October, learn and practice the weaker sub-topics of your stronger areas. Revise and practice only your strong topics from November 1st till the date of the CAT examination.

Study materials or resources
  1. You can learn from any standard material you have in hand, blogs and videos on the AIExpertsEdge website, and the AI CAT test series.
  2. Solve CAT previous year's question papers
  3. You may also join our study groups and crash courses to have rigorous learning in a short period.

 LRDI Learning

In order to gain hands on a variety of problems, this area typically requires a lot of practice. Continue doing three to four LRDI sets per day, and analyse your mistakes until the last week of the CAT exam.
Keep track of the LRDI set solutions you actually missed.

RC Learning

The summarising exercise is the sole approach to increasing retention in RC. Just read the passage once. A passage typically comprises 4-6 paragraphs. Making a mental note of the paragraph's main theme can help you understand it better as you read. You would have gathered 4-6 main points by the time you were finished with the passage. This will comprise the summary. It's not as challenging as you may assume.

VA RC Learning

Maintain a daily reading habit of at least 30 minutes. Basically, read some editorials and try to distil the information you found.
Practice reading comprehension for at least 2 hours daily. Start with at least three passages every day, then up the number to four or five as your accuracy improves.
Here, quality is more essential than quantity, so concentrate on achieving at least 90% Accuracy.
Correction of Sentences, Critical Thinking, Para jumbles, and Paracompletions. You decide how to do it. In general, two days should be set aside for each of the aforementioned topics.
