Whether you ace an exam can largely be boiled down to whether you planned for it in the right way .A student starts preparing well in advance to crack CAT, but in the race to get hold of a clearing cutoff they lose track of their own self. In the race of completing everything of the syllabus they retain only 20%-30% of what they have read.

Three- Star Prioritization

CAT syllabus is as vast as an ocean, and you need to know the exact location to fish the best output.
The best way to prepare for CAT exam is to have a clear cut concept about the syllabus and then prioritizing the topics in decreasing priority order of importance.

In 3-Star strategy we are basically making an intelligent guess of what topics the prelims question paper may ask about!
Having a good grip on the information that a syllabus through 3-star methodology puts you one step ahead of the game. As the questions are limited and the subtopics in the syllabus are around 100.

3 star prioritization involves Breaking down the entire syllabus into around 100 simpler sub-topics.

2. These topics are segregated into three categories,
(3-star), (2-star), (1-star).

Imagine a book!
In the book, the various chapters and sub-chapters are printed in three , (3-star), (2-star), (1-star ), with a footnote that says: "read 3 star 3 times as its very important, read 2 star 2 times, as its also important; read 1 star portion just once, no notes are taken. One reading from the book is enough!
This process ensures huge saving of time. The syllabus no more looks vast but manageable.

(3-star) Topics:
on the basis of previous years’ papers analysis, the important topics whose occurrence frequency is more, we Prioritize such topics in 3 star topics.
These are going to fetch you the marks!! This is your best ammunition! This is your bofors gun!! So, do this carefully!!!
As much well you do this, that much you will be well above your competitors!!

To make the best use of it, put tick marks against each topic based on your comfort with that topic:
Very comfortable: I generally get these questions right
Somewhat comfortable: I sometimes get these question right (around 50% accuracy)
Not at all comfortable: I generally get these questions wrong

The section of average time is a suggestion about the total time needed to cover that topic and may differ from student to student as the priorities and comfort with the topics will also differ.

Every time a student decides to skip a topic or saves time from any topic, the same can be utilized in any other topic which the student may find difficult.
